Registrations done by Gøril
Nilsen in her thesis from 1998:
Boat house nr. 47:
Inner measures: 12,0 m long and 2,7 m wide. Suggested dating: AD 1000
Boat house nr. 51:
Inner measures: 11,3 m long and 2,9 m wide, dated to AD 655-775
Boat house nr. 57
Inner measures: 7,5 m long and 2,9 m wide, suggested dating between AD 800-1000
Boat house nr. 58
Inner measures: 5,3 m long and 2,9 m wide, suggested dating to Viking Age
Boat house site nr. 47 lies parallel along the western long wall of boat house site nr. 51. Boat house sites nr. 57 and 58 are situated at the southern side of the bay.
Excavation Details
Boat house site nr.51: Small scale
excavations uncovered new details regarding the
length and width of the boathouse: Inner measures:
2,9 m wide and 11,3 m long. 14 C datings indicate
an active use of the site about AD 655 - 775
(Gøril Nilsen 1998).
Finds:
museumnumber Ts. 10942 d: Iron nail
museumnumber Ts. 10942 e-f: Iron fragments, unsure if these may have been boat nails.
