Wicklow is known as the 'Garden of Ireland' and its
magnificent gardens and waterfall at Powerscourt are a must
for any visitor.
The name Wicklow is of Norsic origin and it
means Viking Meadow.
County Wicklow is home to many
geographical features such as the Wicklow Mountains and a
granite ridge which cuts through Wicklow, containing the
Sally Gap and the Wicklow Gap. Glendalough, a former
monastic settlement in County Wicklow, was founded by Saint
Kevin, now referred to as St Kevin of Glendalough.
