
County Sligo, Ireland
The
Irish word for Sligo is 'Sligeach' which means abounding in
shells. County Sligo's beautiful scenery with its mountains,
lakes and beaches, inspired many of the great writings of
W.B. Yeats.
The Ox Mountains are the main mountain range in
County Sligo and the loaf-shaped Benbulben is a picturesque
and famous mountain to the north-east of Sligo.
Rosses Point - an excellent golf course, is a major
attraction in County Sligo. Also to be found in County Sligo
is the grave of Queen Maeve and WB Yeats' grave at
Drumcliffe. The beautiful seaside resorts of Enniscrone,
Strandhill and Rosses Point are located in County Sligo
also.
