Monaghan
renowned for its production of linen and lace, is a county
of beautiful hills, lakes and neat market towns. It is a
peaceful scenic destination for the golfer, angler, keen
walker or cyclist.
Monaghan comes from the Irish word
Muineachán - the place of the shrubs. The celebrated
Irish poet Patrick Kavanagh was a native of the village of
Inniskeen in County Monaghan.
