County Meath, Ireland
Meath,
sometimes referred to as 'The Royal County' derives its name
from the Irish 'An Mhí' meaning the middle.
The Hill
of Tara in Meath was the seat of the High Kings and the
fertile Boyne Valley attracted its first settlers during the
Stone Age. The picturesque beauty of the Boyne Valley still
captivates visitors just as it attracted the Normans and the
Celts centuries ago.
Evidence of that ancient civilisation
can still be found in the area and includes Newgrange, the
finest Neolithic tomb in Ireland.
