Limerick
boasts a thriving vibrant city, excellent for shopping,
dining, culture and entertainment - while Limerick county is
adorned with attractive towns and villages, many of which
are built on the banks of the river Shannon.
This charming
county derives its name from the Irish 'Luamanach' - an area
covered with cloaks - referring to cloaks, which were said
to have been seen floating on the River Shannon after a
battle. The majority of the county of Limerick is taken over
by a limestone plain known as Golden Vale.
