comes from the gaelic 'Doire' meaning Oak Grove. Derry is
bordered by the fast-flowing waters of the River Foyle and
it is home to the Sperrin Mountains.
St. Columba founded a onastery in 546 in the vicinity of Derry.
Seamus Heaney (famous poet) was born in Bellaghy Bawn, County Derry.
