Little Island, County Cork

county corkLittle Island is an industrial and residential area to the east of Cork City. The northern channel separating it from the mainland has filled over and it is no longer an island - the N25 Cork/Rosslare road is built on the filled-in channel.

The Cork–Cobh railway line skirts the island to the north and west and includes Little Island railway station, which has direct rail services to Cork, Cobh, Mallow and Midleton.

Located just 10 minutes drive from the centre of Cork and from Cork International Airport, Little Island is an ideal base from which to explore Cork and the beautiful surrounding countryside.

When visiting Little Island there are many things to see and do that will take the interest of any tourist to that area of Cork. There are fascinating sights and attractions all over the city, a range of museums, galleries and historic buildings to browse, and the city is bristling with excellent restaurants and cafes as well as a vibrant nightlife, if you still have the energy!
